The mission of the Society for Historic and Rare Instruments of India (SHRII) is to
- To preserve the collection of artifacts pertaining to historic and rare musical instruments of India, the music they produce, their makers, and the musicians who played them.
- To educate the public about the instruments, the music they produce, their makers, and the musicians who played them.
- To provide opportunities for the public to see, hear, and learn about the instruments, the music they produce, their makers, and the musicians that played them.
