Wyetta to play for Monday Night Restore – Sept 16, 2024

Sacred Ragas with Wyetta Bontempo
On
Sarode

Monday September 16, 2024 6:30 PM – Dusk
 (Bend, Oregon, USA)

Host Cameron Larson writes

“Well now, gather ‘round, friends, ‘cause this Monday, September 16th, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, we’re settin’ out on a soulful journey for our Monday Restore. We’re blessed to have the one and only Wyetta Bontempo joinin’ us—one of just a handful of folks who can speak the sacred language of the sarode. That’s a sound so rare, it’s like hearin’ the wind whisper ancient truths.

Wyetta’ll share her story and the wisdom of her craft, and then we’ll all get comfortable as she lets the music flow, speakin’ to the spirit in a way words never could. After we’ve soaked in the beauty of her song, we’ll turn to the stars for a silent disco, vibin’ with the full set of Rufus during Sol’s epic performance at Burning Man, right from the Mayan Warrior art car.

And when our souls are filled, you can warm your body in the sauna, take a cleansing dip in the cold plunge, or let the cedar hot tub wrap you up like a gentle embrace. Spaces are limited, and it’s just $15 to join this journey. To claim your spot, send $15 via Venmo and write “Wyetta” in the notes.

Come, be part of the circle, and let’s ride this sacred trail together.”

Be sure to bring a yoga mat or pillow to sit upon.

The sarod is a 25 stringed instrument, used in the Hindustani “raga” music of Northern India. It is among the most popular and prominent instruments in India. The sarod is known for a deep, rich, introspective sound, with sympathetic strings that give it a resonant, reverberant quality, in contrast to the sweet, overtone-rich texture of the sitar.

This performance lands on new moon, a time when the light of the moon is absent. Wyetta will invite the light of the moon to return by playing some of the more popular evening ragas which have a relationship with this celestial body and light itself.
